Steve Spicklemire has been designing and building software and hardware systems for more then 20 years. He earned a Ph.D. in Physics from California Institute of Technology. His doctoral work at Caltech involved software control over ion beams, lasers, and data collection instruments. Since that time, he has been teaching and actively consulting with various clients.

For 12 years, Steve has served as a professor at the University of Indianapolis, where he teaches Physics, Astronomy, and Internet Programming. He uses Zope extensively in teaching and in research, and he co-authored the new book, "Zope: Web Application Development and Content Management," with SPVI partner, Kevin Friedly.

Steve is an original member of SPVI. His work includes The Radio Astronomy Project at the University of Indianapolis http://radio.uindy.edu, which utilizes a Zope-based program to collect data from software and hardware for the five meter Radio Telescope.

In the college classroom, he often uses simulation to investigate physical systems that would either be too expensive, too impractical, or simply too dangerous to study experimentally.
